Safeguard provides roof cleaning and moss treatment for appropriate tiled and slate roofs across Cork City and County. We consider the covering, condition, level and type of growth or debris, and access before recommending cleaning or treatment without washing.
Roof cleaning & moss treatment across Cork
When might your roof benefit from cleaning?
Visible moss build-up, organic growth or discolouration, debris collecting on the roof and loosened material reaching gutters or outlets are common reasons to enquire. You may also want advice about general maintenance or appearance.
Moss does not automatically mean a roof is damaged. Leaks, broken coverings or other defects need separate assessment rather than assuming cleaning will put them right.
Roof cleaning services we provide
The appropriate work depends on the roof itself. We discuss which cleaning or treatment option suits the covering and condition, and assess any identified defect separately.
- Tiled-roof cleaning
- Slate-roof cleaning
- Moss removal / treatment
- Biocide treatment
- Moss treatment with biocide without washing
- Roof-condition / repair assessment where a defect is identified
Methods suited to the roof
We do not apply the same cleaning process to every roof. The method is selected according to the actual covering, condition and work required.
Tiled roofs
Soft washing with biocide treatment for appropriate tiled roofs.
Slate roofs
Gentle low-pressure cleaning with biocide treatment for appropriate slate roofs.
Treatment without washing
Moss treatment with biocide is also available without washing the roof.
Roof cleaning and roof repairs are different jobs
Cleaning and treatment address moss, debris and organic growth. They do not replace broken slates or tiles, repair failed flashing or damaged roof junctions, or cure an existing leak.
Where a defect is visible or suspected, we can assess the repair separately. A roof inspection can help establish the condition when it is unclear whether maintenance or repair is needed.
Before roof cleaning begins
We consider safe access, the roof covering and condition, surrounding areas of the property, debris removal and the agreed cleaning or treatment method before work begins.
Loosened moss and debris need managing so they do not simply create a drainage problem. We consider gutters, outlets and downpipes as part of the agreed work. A complete separate gutter-cleaning service is included only where the quotation says so.
Will moss grow back after treatment?
Cleaning and biocide treatment can remove or treat existing growth, but regrowth can occur. The roof, its exposure and surrounding conditions affect what happens afterwards. We do not promise a permanently moss-free roof or a fixed period without regrowth.
